Information about an upcoming Metamask ICO is already partially mentioned on ICO Drops. Besides the remark that the goal is not yet set, it does mention that a MetaMask Utility Token Sale will happen SOON!
What is MetaMask?
MetaMask is the most popular Ethereum cryptocurrency wallet as well as browser extension for crypto users who need a secure gateway into the world of DeFi to interact with DeFi apps. MetaMask can be used on several web browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox and of course Brave (we will use Brave Browser in this article), which I can strongly recommend. Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain featuring smart contract functionality and has a market capitalization of $185,950,468. It was released in 2016 and currently serves more than 400,000 users (september 2020).
How does MetaMask work?
MetaMask allows you to connect to the Ethereum blockchain by using Brave Browser, on which you can store your keys for Ether (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens. It also enables you to buy Ether and ERC-20 tokens directly from the exchanges Coinbase and Shapeshift.
MetaMask uses a simple design and offers you a list and balance of your cryptocurrencies, and allows you to send, receive or swap assets. You only need your top right Ethereum address to receive both Ether as well as all ERC-20 tokens, and you have the option to connect to hardware wallets, such as Nano Ledger and Trezor.
How to start with MetaMask wallet?
Go to https://metamask.io/ and download the MetaMask wallet. Create a new wallet and make sure to remember that password! I do recommend to use the secret backup phrase, which you should never communicate to anyone, since it gives access to your wallet!
What is MetaMask's SWAP function?
By using MetaMask's SWAP functionality you no longer need to join multiple exchanges to buy certain cryptocurrencies. MetaMask does that for you by requesting prices from all available aggregators and by spreading orders on multiple exchanges.

Despite all the security protocols, MetaMask is an online wallet and vulnerable to phishing attacks. I do advice you to invest in a cybersecurity antivirus solution to protect you from these online threats. Always check the URL you're using is authentic when you're downloading extentions.
