Have you been bullied or abused once in your life? How does it feel? How did you handle such cruelty?

Sometimes we feel that we are living a perfect life and that no one has ever harmed us by any means of abuse. Many of us suffer in silence under the hands of people who say they love and care about us. Despite most of the women who have been victims of various forms of abuse, the general assumption that only men who engage in abuse are far from the truth.

There are also a good number of men who are abused by their wives. Domestic abuse has far-reaching effects on the victim and family. It leaves a person with both physical and emotional scars that can be severe if left untreated. Before finding yourself in an abusive relationship, it is important to understand the different forms of abuse. With this awareness, you will recognize and call an abusive situation. Below are some of the different forms of domestic abuse that people experience.

  • Physical abuse

This is one of the most common forms of domestic abuse that exists today. It comes out when the spouse uses various forms of violence on their victim. The perpetrators are usually stabbed, hit and in some extreme cases even kill their spouse. When the physical begins

abuse, it is best to immediately deal with the situation rather than hide it. Not only with partners but physical abuse are also experienced by some minors being maltreated by cruel parents or guardians.

  • Word abuse

This form of abuse involves insults, shaking, destruction and many other things that revolve around the use of offensive words. Speech abuse can damage your self-esteem and leave you feeling unworthy of love. This type of abuse is very serious because it leaves you with emotional scars that may require therapy to fully overcome. Words are sharper than knives as they say. Cyber bullying by means of posting bad words or sending them through messages can be a form of word abuse.

  • Emotional and psychological abuse

The psychological and emotional forms of abuse usually leave a huge impact on the victim’s psyche. Even abuse is not expressed physically, the effect is just as intense. If a spouse or partner continues to use your emotions to manipulate and blackmail you, that situation is not healthy. It is important to know such situations so that you can avoid them. A person being characterized by a narcissist gives a lot of danger in a partner's emotional and psychological traits.

  • Sexual abuse

This is one of the less common but affecting forms of abuse that people should be aware of. The world understands that spouses have the sexual ability to abuse their partners. Some forms of sexual violence include rape and sabotage.

In some cases, a partner may powerfully request that they have babies and sabotage their pregnancy to get what they want. People should be more aware about this to avoid finding themselves in a similar situation.

  • Economic or financial abuse

Financial abuse is used to identify situations in which the spouse or partner uses finance to manipulate their partner. This type of abuse has many facets. A husband takes advantage of the fact that they earn more money than others and use this vulnerability to manipulate them. An abuse can also exploit the finances of others without permission. In other cases, the spouse may use their finances to control what others are doing.

An example could be that they can take advantage of the fact that they are preparing fees to control which courses can be done or not possible. In a moment, one victim felt they had no choice but to do what their partner demanded. As a result, some find it difficult to leave a relationship when they do not have a job or earn a little to support their financial needs.

  • Spiritual or religious abuse

This type of abuse is less well known but very effective. This happens when a husband violates their freedom of worship. A perpetrator uses religious grounds to control, manipulate and humiliate their spouse. In these cases, the victim is affected emotionally or physically if violence is involved. Because religion and spirituality are sacred to many, they can easily become a resource of manipulation. A victim may end up being controlled while believing it is God’s will. At other times, an abuser can use powerful means to prevent their spouse from praying, going to church or the mosque and other means of control. The spiritual abuse is often hard to see but very impactful all the same.

There are several instances why a person is being abused. A spouse can be violent to his partner if he gets involved in some addiction like drugs or gambling. This may result in physical abuse especially when the addiction gets worse.

Any of these kinds of domestic abuse can be avoided right away. Both parties should be aware if there are signs of abuse in their relationship. No conflict can be resolved by another conflict. Talk is always the right thing to do. It has been said that long lasting relationships are built with evening talks and long walks.
