When I first got involved in cryptocurrency, I heard a lot about FTX and it's (now apparent) fraudulent leader SBF. All the media was positive, how SBF was a leader in the industry, how FTX was a great cryptocurrency exchange, and blah blah blah.
Then came the fall of FX and SBF, which in terms of SBF, the dust has not settled yet. Even in terms of FTX there are still accusations flying. In the last 24 hours an former FTX compliance officer was accused of paying off would be whistleblowers a the company: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/06/28/ex-ftx-compliance-officer-sued-for-allegedly-paying-off-would-be-whistleblowers/ . This article alleges the employee was SBF's "fixer:" https://nypost.com/2023/06/28/ex-ftx-lawyer-dan-friedberg-was-sbfs-fixer-paid-hush-money-to-whistleblowers-lawsuit/
If all of that can be proven, I wonder how it will affect FTX in the long term. Is the FTX brand damaged forever? Can it recover?
We are about to find out as FTX has started the process of relaunching as an international cryptocurrency exchange: https://www.reuters.com/technology/ftx-begins-talks-relaunch-international-cryptocurrency-exchange-wsj-2023-06-28/
I for one would never invest in it again, not to say that it can't be successful, and not to say that it won't be legitimate. I just would not want that stigma in a company I put my hard earned money into.
