Iceland is a very expensive country, it certainly cannot be said that you are part of low-cost holidays.

For this reason we have found a solution that has allowed us to amortize various costs, namely that of renting a cab pick-up from Italy with the possibility of spending even less, because at the end of the season the company that hires them needs the vehicles are brought back to Italy, or on the contrary, at the beginning of summer, they need drivers to bring them to them. It may seem like a big joke and at times it is, getting off Copenhagen from non-stop straight to Italy is a little tiring, but it is absolutely worth it, even for the two and a half days of crossing the North Sea by ferry. Having said that I don't know if the company is still active in this thing, in any case to find out I put here the site that refers you to the contacts, call them or write them an email and you're done!

Now let's talk about the itinerary… I write below the stages we have made; for each it is absolutely worth stopping! I start immediately by saying that it took us 13 days to do this itinerary.

Skogarfoss, here is the most beautiful waterfall in the world (in my opinion!): Black rock, green meadows and volcanic sand!
Solheimajokull, a glacier to be savored with your eyes, don't go alone!
Dyrholaey, the famous black beach, location of many advertisements.
Myrdals-jokull, sensational landscapes.
Reynisfjall, another black beach with cobalt rock.

Landamannalauger, indescribable, take a nice trek to the Brennisteinsalda fumaroles
Laki, an area of ​​old extinct craters, also go trekking here and enjoy the show from above (path no. 2 and no. 1).
Vatnajokull, glacier on which you can go on an excursion (tour organized by the "glacier walk") equipped with crampons and rackets (do not go there by yourself !!).

Fjallsarlon, the most famous of the Icelandic glacial lakes.

Hofn, a small village from which we embarked to return to Italy.

I recommend: whatever the solution of your trip, rent a 4X4, in Iceland there is only the paved ring road, after which all the roads, which go inland, are unpaved and in some places there is also wading some river (nothing too dangerous !!). Treat yourself to some thermal baths in natural pools, in Landamannaluger there is a beautiful one! Never venture alone on a glacier, unfortunately some tourists die every year. And finally enjoy all that natural "bendiddio", fill your lungs and eyes ...
