Matter of Time: A Poem

By troynamps | Troy Poetry | 26 Mar 2020

I am likely to stop rising
given the prevailing circumstances
it would amount to total waste in the end
it'd be best if I just stopped already
I am a qualified candidate
led by castrated he goats
my future smoked like bacon
yet enjoyed by those who did nothing -
I didn't say I'll stop rising
I don't give a tiny thought about it,
I am just likely to stop
if I am weak
hopeless
and unfocused,
But I'm not
I am rough
I am tough
I am a fighter
I don't look back
I don't look down
I ride the tide

I am,
I am the one man
my future counts on
The kids I don't have yet rely on
I am the one who my legacy is waiting for.
You know what!?
To hell with the sick politician who promised us jobs,
The mayor who forgot to buy water chemicals,
The minister who's busy doing nothing
The president who...
Let me not say much,
Lest I curse the day I believed in them once.
