A lot of people think, “I’ll stake my TRX and earn rewards easily!”
But here’s the important truth: Just freezing (staking) your TRX is not enough to earn rewards.
In Tron’s system, after you freeze your TRX and get Tron Power (TP = voting rights), you must vote for Super Representatives (SRs).
If you don’t vote, you’ll get almost zero rewards.
Freezing does give you Bandwidth and Energy (which helps make transactions cheaper or free), but the actual reward part only starts when you vote.
This is different from staking on exchanges — here we’re talking about doing it yourself in your own wallet (like TronLink).
Simple Explanation
- Freeze your TRX → Get voting power (TP)
- Vote for SRs → Start earning Voting Rewards
- Choosing good SRs (high sharing rate + stable ones) helps you earn more.
My Real Test: Which Voting Method is Best?
I tested three popular voting methods with roughly the same amount of TRX (around 50,000 TRX).
Each method was tested for about 1 month (total testing period over 3 months). The three methods were:
- TronLink Quick Vote (Easy auto-recommended voting)
- Poloniex SR (No.1 in votes, very stable)
- TronSave Auto Vote (Automatic voting feature)
Here are the results:
- TronLink Quick Vote: Real APR ≈ 3.38% (Performed the best this time)
- Poloniex: Real APR ≈ 3.12% (Stable and reliable)
- TronSave Auto Vote: Real APR ≈ 3.26%
Daily Voting Rewards were around 10 TRX per day at the start, then 5.5–6 TRX as the staked amount grew slowly from Energy lending rewards.
Important Note about TronSave Auto Vote
TronSave’s Auto Vote is supposed to automatically update your votes, but during my test it didn’t trigger often enough.
Every week when my staked amount increased, the auto-vote usually didn’t update properly.
As a result, my voting power went unused for about 3 weeks, causing some reward loss.
Note: This was what happened in my specific test. The feature might work better now due to updates or different settings, so please check the current behavior yourself.
My Conclusion
After testing all three over the total period, the most efficient and reliable way seems to be:
Freeze your TRX →
Use TronLink Quick Vote →
Check and re-vote manually whenever your staked amount increases.
TronLink Quick Vote gave the highest real reward in this test and is very easy to use.
Poloniex is also a solid choice if you prefer concentrating on one strong SR.
Auto Vote sounds convenient, but it’s safer not to rely on it completely without checking.
Overall, TRX voting rewards are currently in the 3.0% ~ 3.4% APY range.
How often you update your vote and which SRs you choose can make a small but noticeable difference.
Key Takeaway:
In your own wallet, Freezing alone = almost no rewards.
Freezing + Voting (and updating when needed) = actual earnings.
