I received an invitation and a referral link to Rakuten, back some time ago. I followed the link and created an account with them. I promply received credit for the referral link, and soon after it was paid to my PayPal account. At that point, everythin appeard legitgimate and above board.
A short time later, Rakuten began offering a $30 referral bonus for both referrers and referees. I can always use a few extra dollars, to help cover all of the expenses connected with getting older, and I thought it would be nice to offer other people this opportunity. So, I included my Rakuten Referral link in a few invitations.
It is never easy eating crow, but I feel a responsibality to share this information. We all make misthakes, and it appears that i was premature when i began sharing this link. My experience has now proven that Rakuten is Not reliable, at the best, and quie possible a scam - on the other hand.
Since sharing their referral link, i used them in a couple of online purchases. But, i never received the money back they promise. Also, I have never received credit for any of the referrals, which i know used my link. After my first referral, I received the advertised $30 reward, but ii was never payed to my PayPal account. Now when I open my Rakuten account, there is no longer any record of that $30 they owe me.
To add insult to injury - the list of those who have used my referral link is now empty. Today, when i was asked for feedback, the following was my reply =

I have shared my Rakuten Referral Link several times. I Know that i have had multiple people use it to join Rakuten. At one time, my account showed a $30 balance, for referral, that i would be receiving in August.
The $30 dissapeared from my balance and i never received any of it. The last time i checked, it was easy to access the list of people who have followed my link. Now it says i don't even have any referrals who have followed my link.
I will NOT be sharing my link anymore. Furtermore, i no longer see reason to use Rakuten at all. My experience with Rakuten has left me with the feeling of being scammed.Extremely Disapointing! I know i have had several people sign up with my referral link. At one time my balance even showed $30 i would be rereceiving as a reward.
In closing, my experience with this questionable site has been very dissapointing, to say the least. Although it appeared legitimate, at first, it turns out very unsatisfactory. The lesson, i take away from this, is to dig even deeper before sharing a referral link.
It is always possible that my experience is an isolated instance. With that being said, I apologize for any inconvenience You may have expereinced, if you followed my referral link to Rakuten!
