66827 66828 Kumamoto was hit by a pretty serious earthquake several years ago. The signature landmark, Kumamoto Castle, was partially destroyed. While resurrection efforts are underway, it’s expected that the recovery will cost the city a colossal amount of money. That’s why I have had profound respect for Eiichiro Oda, the illustrator of One Piece, come forward and lend his life’s work to Kumamoto’s branding. He was guided by the desire to raise funds for the restoration project, and it’s heartwarming to see his eagerness to contribute to his hometown. The above two pictures were taken at Kumamoto Airport.
