“Welcome to my part of the world,” I chuckled gregariously, motioning for my newfound friend to partake in the delectable plate of cheeses. I had earlier agreed to host this fellow Singaporean through a website called Couchsurfing. Now that we had finally met face to face, I wanted to introduce him to my life in Kumamoto. I flashed an effusive smile, eager to play the gracious host.
