Kumamoto’s attractions are geographically dispersed, so I can’t fervently promote it as a tourist destination. But with the Netflix series “One Piece” attaining cult status, One Piece fans will relish the chance to seek out all 10 bronze statues of the beloved characters in Kumamoto. While gallivanting, have fun trying its charismatic activities. Castle viewing, active volcano hiking, dolphin watching, onsen hopping, train commuting - the exciting list goes on. Don’t leave Kumamoto without trying its basashi (horse sashimi). Use freshly grated ginger and garlic to accentuate the lean meat’s flavour, so refreshing that it acts like a palate cleanser!
