The best time to travel to Guimaras is the dry season. The most practical and cheap mode of transport is the motorcycle or scooter. They can be rented through the accommodation space or from different centers in the main localities. The rent for one day is (maximum 9€ per day). The main roads are paved, the traffic being very light and only slightly crowded in the center of Jordan and Buenavista. Most of the access roads to the beaches are unpaved, covered with dirt or sand and some even very damaged (for example, the road to Lighthouse and Guisi Beach is very damaged, almost impossible to travel by scooter
Accommodation
The island is divided into 5 municipalities, most of the tourist facilities being located in Buenavista (North), Jordan (West) and Nueva Valencia (S and SV). On the East coast there are few accommodation spaces, the area being relatively outside the tourist route. The most beautiful and popular beaches are the private ones belonging to Alubihod Beach Resort and Raymen Beach Resort. These two resorts offer low and medium comfort rooms, with rates ranging from 70 to 150 euro for night. Access to these beaches is also allowed to visitors in exchange for a fee of 2 euro per person.
Things you have to do when you visit Guimaras
The main tourist attraction of the island is the mango fruits that can be consumed in generous quantities. Also Boat trip to the surrounding islands. Visit to a mango plantation or to the Mango Fruit Research Institute.
If you want to experience something special, you should try a lunch or dinner at a floating restaurant - Floating Cottage. There are several such floating restaurants scattered in the waters of the Nueva Valencia area, in front of the beaches. The closest such floating restaurant is in front of Jannah Glycel Beach House Resort. You can reach it by swimming to it (maximum 10 minutes)
