Santipur is a town beside the river Ganges in Nadia district. It is 80 kms from Kolkata, and is famous for its Santipuri Tant Sarees.
Tant Sarees are made using a traditional handloom process, where the yarn is first spun into cotton threads and then woven into a light, airy fabric. The fabric is typically unbleached and has a crisp texture that makes it easy to drape.
