Memes are one of the biggest hopium based projects in the crypto trading industry and they are an easy way to make and loose money in the crypto market.

Before they were brought mainstream in 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, they were just a comical joke on the internet.

Shiba Inu dog which was the first iconic meme featured a photogenic dog which was usually accompanied by funny statements and colorful incorrect statements flooding the internet.

Shiba Inu and doge later pumped so high and later doge got a market cap of $90 billion, that was when Elon Musk was pushing the high and people were thinking he would give doge a utility.

But of we have learnt anything from this web3 space, it is only hopium can not sustain any project.

Dogecoin had a decent run up to $0.7 ATH before heavy dump following statements by Elon Musk or as he was referred to then " the doge father."

Now memes have become the face of most degenerates trades, there are 340 meme token as of June 2023, and many of them have rug, many more are been launched everyday. 

These tokens are launched one after the other by people who are just looking to feed off on the greed of other traders looking to 100X their portfolios.

These tokens have zero utility, zero potential and can easily rug at any point. Because an active community that is not being rewarded is not enough hopium to keep the project active.
