So much hoopla for the "Darna" role, the famed Filipino female superhero.
The role was played by a number of famous Filipina artists from way back when, but it has never had so much controversy than it had these last few years. First it was Angel Locsin who had to let go of the role for health reasons, as she had scoliosis (I think) and she needed operation and she wouldn't be able to do stunts properly.
Everyone was excited when Liza Soberano was then cast for the role, everyone was excited, you would see memes and edited images that inserted Liza's face in the Darna body, a good number of months after, she would announce tearfully that she is withdrawing from the role, again, for health reasons. It seems that she was injured when she was filming her TV show Bagani.
Is the Darna role cursed? LOL. I'm just kidding but its such a sad thing that two great actresses would back out of the same role for the same reason, so to speak, injury.
Anyways, on to my other thoughts... With Liza backing out of the role, many have expressed their interest in the role. Names like that of Nadine Lustre, Miss Universe Catriona Gray, even Angel Locsin's (since she's all healed up, I think) popped out from the woodworks. Speculation abound as to who will replace her for this upcoming movie. We are all waiting with abated breath as to who will indeed be the next Darna....
