Over the past week, Strategy has purchased another 4,225 BTC worth $472.5 million, bringing its total holdings to a record 601,550 BTC. The average purchase price for this batch was $111,827 per coin. The company’s annual portfolio return has now exceeded 20%.

Largest Purchase of the Year

Between July 7 and 13, Strategy sold nearly 2 million shares, including common stock and three preferred series (STRK, STRF, and STRD). The majority — $330.9 million — came from the issuance of MSTR shares. The rest came from preferred stock with annual yields of 8–10%. All proceeds were used to buy bitcoin at market prices.

The company now holds 601,550 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $71,268. This makes it the world’s largest public holder of bitcoin — effectively operating as a bitcoin ETF traded via the stock market.

The Strategy Pays Off: Rising Returns and Investor Interest
In 2025, Strategy’s portfolio has delivered a 20.2% return, and more investors are using the company’s shares as a way to gain bitcoin exposure without leaving the traditional stock market framework.

The firm operates a public dashboard displaying real-time purchases, entry prices, and the current market value of its BTC holdings. For the fourth year in a row, Strategy has been acting as a de facto bitcoin ETF — without waiting for SEC approval.

Bitcoin Hits New All-Time High — $1.3B in Shorts Liquidated
Following news of the latest purchase, BTC broke through $123,000, setting a new all-time high. Within minutes, $1.3 billion worth of short positions were liquidated. Bitcoin’s market cap surpassed $2.39 trillion, making it the fifth-largest asset in the world — ahead of Amazon.

Since the start of July, BTC has gained $15,000 in value, and since April, the broader market has added $1.2 trillion in capitalization. The rally has been fueled by the repeal of trade tariffs in the U.S., accelerated tax reform, and continued inflows of institutional capital.

What’s Next?
Strategy is making it clear: bitcoin is not a short-term bet but a long-term component of its corporate strategy. Amid accelerating institutional adoption and a weakening dollar, this model may become a blueprint for other public companies.
