Each asset has now closed the month of May in positive territory seven times.

May 2025 was a strong month for both cryptocurrencies:

This marks the seventh time Bitcoin has closed May with a gain.

This month, the asset experienced several price surges.
Notably, on May 21–22, 2025, Bitcoin twice reached new all-time highs, briefly hitting $111,800.

Later, the price dropped below $108,000 following a statement from U.S. President Donald Trump announcing new tariffs on imported goods from the EU.
However, it quickly rebounded after the president announced that the decision would be postponed.

The asset’s price faced renewed volatility after a U.S. federal court struck down Trump's tariffs — only for an appeals court to temporarily reinstate them pending further review.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $104,267.38caca3e14f92082d1ebd8a78183268da1643b6dfe90627d7536768567fa0bfe.png

Following the update, on May 8–9, the asset’s price broke through the $2,200 level and later surpassed $2,700.
