I have a fondness for anything that grows and I’m not just talking about my bank account. Honestly, I suck at investing on my own and have hired a financial advisor to do it for me. He is awesome and I could not have done it better myself. Really- I’m not just bragging.

If investing in stocks, futures, even crypto were easy, everyone would be rich! I know my limits: I suck at it.   

What I am good at, and what I have always enjoyed is planting a garden. In the winter months, I grow thyme, sage, and oregano inside my home along with a variety of houseplants. I have fresh herbs all year! Last winter I grew basil. I tried growing tomatoes in a grow tent (the kind many use for growing cannabis) several years ago. My plants were tall, green, healthy, and full of blossoms but I got not one tomato. I even tried to pollinate by hand. I am going to read up on hydroponics and try it again next fall.

My favorite vegetables to grow are tomatoes, beans, peppers, all types of greens, beets, garlic, and winter squash. I make pickled beets and they are wonderful!

My favorite annual flowers are zinnias, snapdragons, and sweet peas but I’ll grow about anything.

Gardening takes my mind off all life’s stressors and downers. I’ve learned that the things that mean the most in life are family and good friends. Everything else is second. You know the saying, ‘you can’t take it with you.’ I plan on spending it all living out my bucket list. This fall 2020, I will be rafting down the Grand Canyon! I much prefer that to sitting in front of my computer wondering what stock or crypto I will take a gamble on next.
