Who Really Makes the Laws?

Who Really Makes the Laws?

By Deejo | Thinking-Out-Loud | 5 Mar 2022

I saw an article by Forbes, written in 2017 by Clyde Wayne Crews Jr., that asks a question I have wondered about… “How Many Federal Agencies Exist?”. He goes on to say…

No one can even say with certainty anymore how many federal agencies exist; yet they make most of the law now rather than our elected Congress. And their drive to protect turf is quite high.”

According to the U.S. Constitution, the only people who are allowed to make federal laws are Congress. However, over time many of these agencies have been set up and left to run on their own with NO OVERSIGHT!

According to the above article…

“In a 2015 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) noted: ‘The Federal Register indicates there are over 430 departments, agencies, and sub-agencies in the federal government.’”

How Many Federal Agencies Exist?

According to:

Unified Agenda -  61
Administrative Conference of the U.S. - 115
FOIA.gov (at Department of Justice) - 252
2016 Federal Register index - 272
Regulations.gov - 292
United States Government Manual - 316
Federal Register agency list - 440
USA.gov tally - 443

Crews also stated that “there is no authoritative list“. If there is no master list, and no one really knows how many there are, then why do we have to listen to them? Why do they have control over our lives?

All of these agencies are run by people who were NEVER elected. These agencies believe they have power over the people. Since no one stops them, I guess they do.

At this time, the US Surgeon General is trampling on our fourth amendment rights (that protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government). Jack Phillips at The Epoch Times says “US Surgeon General Requests COVID-19 ‘Misinformation’ Data From Big Tech Companies”

In addition to the fourth amendment, they are decimating our first amendment rights (freedom of speech). If they have nothing to hide, then public discourse should be welcomed, because people can think what they want about the information and make informed decisions. But when they won’t let opposing views out in the public forum, they are hiding something, and in my opinion, what they are hiding is downright evil.

In addition, big tech has become an “arm” of the abusive tyrannical government by censoring and (if they comply with the above request and I have no doubt they will) sending information to government agencies without a search warrant!

Here is an article that explains this. How did unelected bureaucrats hijack the role of legislators? Brittany Hunter in this article said “agencies have extended their powers well beyond what the Constitution allows.

While writing about the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) protecting the Otters, Hunter said…

The agency then made a declaration wherein it stated that it would no longer adhere to Congress’ protection of fishermen and fisheries.

This was allowed to happen, even though Congress had intervened to protect the fisherman from breaking the law by accidentally having otters caught in their lobster traps.

Don’t get me wrong. I like otters and don’t want to see them harmed, but that is not the point of this article. The FWS has been allowed to ignore Congress and to take more power than they legally have. That not only puts them “above the law”, but it also puts them “above the Constitution”. How many other agencies are doing this? We can only guess.

Thank you for reading.
