Statistical Poli-ticking

Statistical Poli-ticking

Statistics are only as good as the data provided. There are different aspects of statistics that can easily cause misconceptions, whether intended or not. First I will talk about polls. There are a number of ways that polls can be manipulated.

The people polled can be of one particular group. Whether it’s a political group, an ethnic group, a religious group, or people from a particular location, etc. If the sampling of who is being polled is not noted, it would be easy to come to different conclusions from reality.

For example, according to Gallup.com, President Trump’s approval ratings showed as low as 34% and as high as 49% with an average of 41% approval. To be consistent I will use Gallup.com again. Biden’s approval ratings have been as low as 40% and as high as 57% with an average of 53%.  Those numbers don’t seem plausible to me.

Here are a few things that happened under President Trump…

  • More jobs
  • Great economy
  • Most of the wall on our southern border was built or fixed
  • Keeping peace (no new wars)
  • The U.S. had respect around the world (even if they didn’t like President Trump)
  • ISIS terrorist leaders killed
  • Things were looking up (Until the COVID fiasco, which was the fault of misinformation promoted by the CCP, the WHO, and people like Dr. Fauci)

Here's what’s happening under Biden…

  • Our economy is CRASHING
  • Inflation is soaring
  • Our freedoms are being taken away (especially free speech)
  • We are being invaded at our southern border
  • We are now at war with Russia (while at the same time we are buying oil from them)
  • The keystone pipeline has been shut down (causing us to buy Russia’s oil)
  • Gas prices soaring to almost double in one year!
  • Many people lost their jobs
  • Vaccine mandate for children being pushed, despite the dangers that they are trying to hide
  • CRT (Critical Race Theory) is being taught in schools (which is very racist, divisive, and dangerous).
  • We pulled out of Afghanistan in such a way that Americans and allies were put in harm's way and some killed and possibly worse. (I believe there are still Americans trapped in Afghanistan today.)
  • Religious freedoms are eroding away
  • ISIS is back and they were given pallets of cash and U.S. Military equipment that was left behind with the Afghanistan withdrawal
  • People are being locked up for speaking out
  • Law-abiding parents have been labeled “domestic terrorists” for speaking against CRT and other dangerous school practices.
  • Crime is on the rise across the nation

Is there any doubt that the gallup polls are biased? When President Trump holds a rally and 10’s of thousands of people show up and cheer him on. And when Biden holds a rally MAYBE 50 people come to watch. How is it even possible that Biden’s lowest number is barely lower than President Trump’s average number? And that any approval number for Biden could be higher than President Trump?

The only way to get these results is to either ask the “right questions”, and/or poll the “correct people”. If the poll consists of mostly or only Democrats, then you will get a different answer than if you poll every political party. You can also get different answers depending on how you ask the questions.

I suspect the people that gallop polled were mostly Democrats. I cannot believe that Biden’s approval rating was ever above 50%.

Here’s an example of "asking the right question".

Question 1:  "Is President Biden is doing a good job?"

Vs

Question 2:  "Isn't President Biden doing a better job than that idiot Trump ever did?"

I can’t say exactly how Gallup came up with their numbers. However, I am convinced that their numbers are not an accurate reflection on what the American citizens actually think. It seems that Gallup and the politicians think we’re too stupid to realize when they lie to us.

In future articles I will explain additional ways that statistics can be misguided.
