It is my opinion that each country needs to be self-sustaining. I’m not saying we shouldn’t trade with foreign countries. But I believe, the necessities should be produced in our own country, if it is at all possible.
What is "Self-sustaining"? Merriam-webster says it's... "maintaining or able to maintain oneself or itself by independent effort"
I will use the U.S. as an example, but I believe this applies to every country. If the U.S. relies on essential items like food, fuel, or medicines from other countries, then those countries could threaten to shut off the supply in order to gain control. They could also just shut off the supply anytime they want to cause havoc on the nation. But if the only items bought from other countries were above and beyond our needs, then there would be no threat from other countries regarding our supplies.
Why has the United States allowed essentials to be produced for us in a communist country? Communism is an enemy of our Republic. Allowing communist countries to sell us our necessities is very dangerous. They could easily cut off the supply at any moment. Or they could poison our food and medications. Or spy on us from the devices made in that country.
An example that was made this clear was in 2007 when our pets were dying from the pet food that was made with rice proteins that came from China? Even left-wing Wikipedia said…
“As a result of investigating the 2007 pet food recalls, a broader Chinese protein export contamination investigation unfolded, raising concerns about the safety of the human food supply”
China is the main country that produces pharmaceuticals. And until President Trump came along... steel was too. The quality of the steel was sub-par and caused building collapses and death. How much of the sub-par steel has been used for military equipment? What about submarines? The lives of our military are at stake if we use weak steel.
We need to realize that the CCP is NOT our friend. The CCP is our enemy. They are the ones that have made the pandemic worse because of hiding information (along with Dr. Fauci). And I’m not convinced it wasn’t a planned attack. [1]
Then, there is the area of fuel. Shutting down the Keystone pipeline while encouraging Germany and Russia to move forward has caused us to not only rely on foreign countries, but the price of gas has gone up and many jobs have been lost. The countries we are dependent on for fuel may or may not be our friends. Even friends or allies today do not necessarily mean friends tomorrow. We need to protect ourselves against potential threats.
Each country needs to protect itself from these risks if it is at all possible.
Thank you for reading.
