Some people want to hire based on a person’s identity. Whether it's their gender, race, sexual orientation, or anything else they can dream up, as long as they’re not straight-white-males.
Those should NEVER be the deciding factor. People should be hired based on their qualifications. ONLY on their qualifications. Hiring people who are not qualified just because they fit into some “identity bucket” is setting your company (or country) up for failure. If they can’t do the job, then the quality of the work suffers.
A perfect example is the Biden administration. Is there anyone in the administration who is competent for the job they are holding? Of course, it seems like the first qualification for this administration must be to hate the United States. The next question is what "minority bucket" can they be fit into? If the answer is none, then the chances of that person working for the Biden administration are very slim.
One of my favorite examples is the press secretary. She can't answer any legitimate questions. She doesn't remember anything and has to "circle back". Do the legitimate questions ever get answered? Honestly, I can't bear to watch her, but I seriously doubt that she tells us the truth on any of the hard questions.
Hiring minorities for a job that they are qualified for is great, of course, but no one should be hired because of their skin color, gender, etc. I don’t care if the person is white, brown, black, orange, or purple, that person needs to be qualified for the job being offered, first and foremost.
Many on the left who say they are helping minorities are the same people who think those minorities are too stupid to be able to get a voter ID (which is ridiculous). They also dumb down the schools "so the minorities can pass the tests". If they got better teachers there wouldn’t be discrepancies for the people in those communities. Skin color does not determine one's ability to learn (or lack of ability). Another good reason for school choice.
