The North Carolina Senate passed a bill for harsher sentencing to those Rioters Who Cause Property Damage or Harm. This bill still needs to make it through the House and then get signed by their governor. Even if this happens, does it matter? (Since the governor is a Democrat this bill is likely to get vetoed.) The harsher sentence only matters if the Department of Justice chooses to prosecute. I don't know much about North Carolina, but I do know that many liberal cities and states have chosen NOT to prosecute many violent rioters. It appears that in many areas (including and especially DC) that the only people getting prosecuted are Trump supporters.
Think about January 6th. The only violence on January 6th (that I'm aware of) is the police shooting of an unarmed veteran. If there was actual violence from Trump supporters the MSM wouldn't stop talking about it. The justice department has held many political prisoners just because they entered a building where many were ALLOWED to enter. We (at least DC) have become a communist state. How many lives and families are being ruined because of these prisoners not being allowed to provide for their families. They are being labeled terrorists just because they support a president who loves this country, while real terrorists are praised.
If the liberal Democrats/socialist/communist had their way, all of this country would look like Portland, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and other areas that are falling apart and are not safe. They aren't interested in REAL JUSTICE! They only want political prosecution. Businesses have been ruined and lives have been lost in the name of "peaceful protests" across this nation while prosecutions for these actions are few.
On the other side of the coin we have a couple (the McCloskeys) who defended their lives and their home (and their dog) and they were prosecuted. According to dailymail...
'A mob of at least 100 smashed through the historic wrought iron gates of Portland Place, destroying them, rushed towards my home where my family was having dinner outside and put us in fear of our lives,' he told the outlet.
'This is all private property. There are no public sidewalks or public streets. We were told that we would be killed, our home burned and our dog killed. We were all alone facing an angry mob.
'As soon as I said they were on private property, that enraged the crowd. There was then a hoard of people coming through the broken gate and the gate was broken in pieces,' he added.
'And there were, I don't know how many people there were, a tremendous number of people, all angry, all shouting, all coming towards us.'
There were "private property" and "no trespassing signs" telling visitors that this was NOT a public place. I know if I was in the McCloskey's situation I would have done the same thing. They kept themselves from being murdered. But the Missouri justice department chose to prosecute this couple instead of the people breaking down their gate and threatening to murder them. Thankfully they have a governor who eventually pardoned them. This should not have been necessary. I'm not sure how you can be pardoned for not breaking the law. But in this environment, I guess it's easier to do that than have real justice.
My point in all of this is not only do we need justice reform by congress, but we need honest law-abiding justice departments across this land. We need justice for people actually breaking laws, like attacking people and destroying property. And to STOP politicizing justice in both the courts and in congress. A peaceful protest is great. But those violent actions must be prosecuted and calling a riot a "peaceful protest" is WRONG!
