This story must be told. On January 6th, Nathaniel DeGrave wanted to make a documentary. He walked peacefully through open doors into the Capital building, was not armed, and didn’t assault anyone, destroy property or steal anything. Nathanial DeGrave is just one of the non-violent detainees who have not been convicted and that are still being held (with no trial date in sight) without bail in what is being called “DC GITMO”. It is said that the conditions there are worse than GITMO and some are even asking to go to GITMO instead because they would get better treatment.
DeGrave wrote a letter to get his message out to the people. In it he mentions the repercussions that he and fellow Jan 6er inmates will receive but feels that this needs to be told anyway. I will talk about some of the content here but, I hope you will read his TELL ALL Letter, as there is a lot more information in it.
About the first four months, they were in solitary confinement 23-24 hours a day (also sometimes as punishment after that time for whatever reason the guards could concoct). There is "EXTREME medical neglect" for these detainees. Also, raw sewage overflowed multiple times having fecal matter flood their area. There is mold on the walls, rusty pipes, and the water running through a towel makes it turn brown. He also mentions the nutritional inadequacies (both quantity and quality) of the food being served.
Religious services are not provided so fellow detainee Ryan Samsel, ”attempted to organize his own bible study inside the pod, until he was viciously BEATEN and LEFT FOR DEAD by correctional officers. He suffered a broken eye socket and brain damage as a result of this vicious attack. He’s now permanently blind in one eye.”
The letter states that most of the guards are liberal migrants from Africa who hate the U.S. and are being told that these Jan 6ers are “white supremacists” (which is not true).
"Jan 6ers have been mocked, beaten and ridiculed by guards for singing the National Anthem. The Corrections Officers despise our politics and the love we have for this country. At one point, an officer even yelled “F*** AMERICA!”, and threatened to lock us down FOR A WEEK if we attempted to sing the National Anthem again."
Representatives Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to get access to the facility to inspect the conditions and were not allowed admittance. This is a weaponized DOJ that is going after President Trump supporters. This is a Fascist tactic and is unlawful and UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
Nathaniel is asking for financial assistance as he has lost everything, including his business. He has no one that is able to help him. There is a link to help with legal expenses in the article.
