It's very exciting thinking about economics. The past, the present, and the future.

But can we merge philosophy to economics? Why not?

Who was the first philosopher to do it? Karl Marx. 

O-o. Why are you talking about Karl Marx if we are crypto-capitalists? I explain it.

Actually, I'm joking. Karl Marx wasn't the first philosopher to talk about economics. Ancient greek and eastern thinkers did it.

But in modern times, we had John Locke, for instance. Locke used to say the most important in economics is the human. What do you think? Myself is my portfolio of investments. Thomas Hobbes and David Hume were economics-thinkers too.

The father of modern political economics was Adam Smith.  I also could say that Adam Smith was the father of the capitalist spirit and the capitalist way of life. But Jeremy Bentham used to talk about post-modern capitalist spirit 100 years before social development ideas (I'll write an article about Jeremy Bentham).  

Some other century 19's philosophers sounded a little bit utopians. 

Finally, Karl Marx. What's the great contribution of Marx to economic thinking? Pure philosophy, even some metaphysical issues, as dialectics, was inspired by Hegel and Kant. Dialectical materialism can explain even economy as politics as human behavior, as history, as anything in the world, but not only this. Can post-metaphysical or radical metaphysics explain economy? 

First of all, we shouldn't forget sociology, anthropology, and psychology. Marx had an interesting contributor called Friederich Engels. Have you ever read "The origin of the family, private property and the state"? In this book, quoting other books, Engels told that capitalism started in... age of caves. (I'm gonna write another article about this). 

So, if we think capitalism started in caves, 100,000 years ago, can we imagine some behaviors in century 21 are similar to cave people?

For instance, how many of us want to make some money to... date somebody? Maybe if you consider this behavior is a little bit unconscious? And what this behavior in all societies of Planet Earth can influence all global economies?

Here, we're talking about trans-metaphysical thinking applied to economics. 

So, we can reach out to the psychoanalysis, even Marxist-psychoanalysis developed by Wilhelm Reich, but I suggest a very interesting reading: evolutionary and cognitive psychology.
