If you have ever visited crypto Reddit not long ago, then you probably saw those same posts many times: people saying “Bro I did farming during last 3 months and just earned about an $12”, some ask “Why am I doing this for myself”, others posting that they “hate those points systems” or just saying “Never doing it again”. You will often see “Now my crypto address has 19 tokens and all together are for $0.01”. This is what they call dust meta. Frankly speaking, people start to get bored from it.

A lot of L2 airdrop grinders, they began with idea they might get big rewards like an Arbitrum. But, in reality they end up holding lot of wallets, move funds every week, do quests, open dashboards like it is a phone game, also they constantly pay gas that takes much of their profits. Then when you check Reddit all you find is “yeah this is not fun”, “I used two hours just for $3” or the famous “I even lose money but I cannot stop since I already do this”.

Another thing that really annoys people is these L2 projects that are supposedly giving rewards for things which are not actual usage but just for artificial activity. So many are doing endless swaps at 3 in the morning to maybe count as “usage”. After that when airdrop comes, bots get a big part anyway. Most think it is not a total scam but they feel a bit offended.

You see in those Reddit comments also, people are saying they have the dust everywhere now. There is an airdrop on the Base, and then one appears on ZKsync, also another is on Blast, Starknet maybe soon somewhere else too. So all these little coins sit on different chains like crumbs in pocket. Taking it out costs more than it is worth.

The ironic part is, people are still doing this. Because sometimes a post shows up like “I took $2.5K from here” and then everyone wants to try again. But most people agree now: these small airdrops are feeling like nothing but jobs. No one is interested for do jobs in crypto.
