It appears that things are starting to unravel for the founder of the worlds worst stablecoin, Do Kwon. As a South Korean court has issued arrest warrants for him and five other persons.
Recent events
What has transpired more recently is that on the 17th of August Do Kwon hired a South Koren law firm to represent him. I can only assume this is in addition to any lawyers he already had on retainer in Singapore. Because if he waited this long until getting legal representation he is in worse shape than even I could have imagined.
At the same time, he also stated that no criminal charges have been brought against him. But I can only assume that now has changed with the warrants for his aren't being issued. But sadly I do not think we will see any trial any time soon. As he even stated in the interview he recently gave that going back to South Korea is tricky.
But given what was said in the interview, it appears Do Kwon was going on as usual. And the crypto researcher FatManTerra noted on twitter several things mentioned in the interview were direct lies from Do Kwon.
So I sadly think Do Kwon going back to South Korea to face justice and prosecution is nothing more than a pipe dream at this stage. But maybe we could goat him and his ego to do it. And maybe if enough people say they don't believe he ever would go back because he is too much of a coward. He might actually go back.
The only info I was able to find on the charges brought against him and the 5 others was allegations that include violations of the nation’s capital markets law. And that is of course South Korean law, just in case that was not obvious.
I guess there were more reasons other than just "tax reasons" for Do Kwon to move to Singapore...
Hopefully tho we will be able to get some sort of closure to this story in the future, fingers crossed at least.
What is your thought on this, do you think there is any chance Do Kwon will face some repercussions for his actions? Or do you happen to think he might be innocent, and this all is just a witch hunt?
