What Happens When AI Starts Using Crypto Without Us?

What Happens When AI Starts Using Crypto Without Us?

Here's a weird thought I've been stuck on lately:

What happens when AI becomes a customer?

Not a chatbot answering questions.

I mean an AI that can actually spend money.

Imagine telling an AI, “Find me the cheapest cloud storage,” and it searches different services, chooses one, pays for it and gets everything set up.

You didn't enter your card.

You didn't click anything.

The AI just handled it.

Sounds a little crazy, but the pieces for this kind of thing are already being built.

And this is where crypto gets really interesting.

Machines need money too

AI agents could eventually need computing power, data, storage, APIs and all kinds of digital services.

They may need to pay other machines for those services.

Traditional banking wasn't really designed around millions of autonomous software agents making tiny payments to each other 24/7.

Crypto, especially stablecoins, could make that much easier.

The machine doesn't care about Bitcoin memes or whether a coin is going to 10x.

It just needs to send $0.10 and know that $0.10 is still roughly $0.10.

That's why I think stablecoins could become much more important than people realize.

Here's the part that blows my mind

What if millions of AI agents are constantly buying and selling things from each other?

One AI pays another for data.

Another pays for computing power.

Another sells a service.

Another pays for storage.

And all of it happens automatically.

At that point, blockchain isn't just something people use to move crypto around.

It becomes financial infrastructure for machines.

And the funniest part?

We might not even notice it.

Just like most people use the internet every day without thinking about how it actually works.

Maybe crypto eventually becomes the same way.

Something running underneath everything.

Of course, there are huge problems to solve first. Giving an AI access to money creates obvious security and accountability issues.

But the idea itself is fascinating.

Bitcoin gave us digital money.

Smart contracts made money programmable.

AI gives software the ability to act on its own.

Put those three things together...

and maybe the next big crypto users won't be humans at all.

They'll be machines.
