In today's article we will explore some of the advantages that make Linux a better operating system than Windows:

1. Security.

Linux is famous for being a very secure operating system. I run Linux (Manjaro) as my daily drive for many years. Never needed to purchase an antivirus program and my system was never infected with a virus. The main reason behind this is the way Linux installs software via the software center or the terminal.

2. Minimum Requirements.

Linux can run on computers with outdated hardware way better than Windows. There are specific distributions like Puppy Linux than can revive a really old laptop making it usable. If your computer has 512 MB of RAM memory then Linux is the only path you can take.

3. Price.

Linux is free. No need to pay Microsoft for a license. You can download a Linux ISO, burn it on a USB stick and install it on your machine entirely free. Also if you decide to buy a new laptop or desktop without pre-installed Windows the price will be lower.

4. No telemetry.

Windows are notorious for sending telemetry data to Microsoft. Even an experienced user won't be able to disable telemetry entirely. That's not the case with Linux. No telemetry, no ads, way better privacy.

5. Reliability.

When it comes to reliability Linux is the king. Most servers and supercomputers run Linux and the main reason is reliability. No need for daily reboots after an update like Windows. In fact there are many examples of Linux distributions running for years without a reboot.
