Giraffe from my wild-waterfall series on opensea

Creating art and balancing work.

Hello there, and welcome to my Publish0x blog.

I'm a creative from Kenya (East Africa) who's been in Belgium for about a year now living with my wife helping her manage the situation after her father passed away from Covid in October 2020.

This is a really new experience for me considering I've almost always been on Safari or travelling for the past 10 years and prior to that at least once a month. I guess I can consider this one long safari exploring just one conservancy that has very little wildlife.

168 days ago, I started doing a 365 day challenge where I posted one picture/composite/piece of art a day. It's been a fun ride so far.

3 or so months ago, a friend of mine (twitter.com/Rey_matata) introduced me to the importance of living in the now with technology and got me up to speed (he says wondering how that's even possible with web3) with what he knew about NFT's and why I should start minting on the blockchain.

And that's how I started learning about low gas fees on particular days, how to mint with minimal fees and what I should do to start putting some of my work onto opensea for the first time.

I wasn't and am still not twitter savvy. That's a whole beast that younglings need to get themselves a course to teach older folk like myself.

And so I joined a community from my homeland called the Mbogi (Slang for people with common interest) and oh my lord. I've been web 2 all my life being a dev and learning things but getting stuck in web2 was holy crap silly. I don't believe there's so much that's just passed me by and these young ones are incredible. I can't tell you how danged proud I am to be an older generation Kenyan today. Beyond filling my heart. And these ones oh man, they don't stop teaching, caring, helping each other.

IT IS SO OVERWHELMINGLY AMAZZING!

Ahem.

I learnt a lot and am continuing to learn a lot from them every day.

But this brings the point of today's post home for me.

When I first started with NFT's, I was able to spend time listening to spaces during the day, talk to people, spend time actually doing things of relevance. I've now got some consultancy work and it's taking up time but I've got to persist. I keep my dailies running and when I get some free time, I read up a little, I write a little and I create a little.

And i'm finding it's a lot more challenging but it's so much more rewarding.

As I started to take the time to find this balance, I also realised there's more to this whole #shilling game on twitter than expected. It's about connections. About actual conversation and it's been fun learning about all this.

I also learnt some fun acronyms like my new favourite #WAGMI

(For those not in the know and around my age category, that stands for We Are Going To Make It!)

I feel so old sometimes.

Thought i'd also share some of my work here.

These are two of my collections on Opensea.

Hope you guys like them.
