Steemit isn't as Censorship Resistant as People Thought!!

By 2gen | The Pro-Decentralization Camp | 18 Jan 2020

There's an article caught my attention.

I heard of things of blockchain and signed up Steemit 3 years ago but haven't used it.

I thought Steemit is uncensored platform since it's based on the technology of immutability of blockchain until I looked an article on cryptosalte.com called "Steemit Censoring Users on Immutable Social Media Blockchain's Front-End".

Long story short,

  • Steem is a blockchain of immutability, censorship resistant, decentralization.
  • Steemit is a front-end build on Steem, it uses the DPoS Consensus algorithm which allow certain delegates to take actions without the consensus of the community. It means the admins of Steemit is able to ban users if they wanna got self-censored or clean out people who violated their own standard Terms of Service.

I think currently there's no true platform which is censorship resistant unless user decides to use a blockchain backed platform in deep web.
