Some 3 Pence Pieces Added To The Stack

Some 3 Pence Pieces Added To The Stack

Good day to you all and thanks for stopping by to check out some new pieces I recently added to the stack.

First up, we have the 1918 3 Pence piece from the United Kingdom. With it being over 100 years old, I feel that it's in rather fine condition considering. It does need a little polish but what the heck, it's silver and it's gonna live in a box for the rest of my life 😅

One day I will finally get all the pieces out and give them a good ol polish, but for now you get the raw unshiny versions to look at 🙃

The obverse of the coin: The uncrowned King George V
The reverse of the coin: A crowned denomination dividing the date within an oak wreath
Year: 1918
Value: 3 Pence
Currency: Pound Sterling
Silver: .925
Weight: 1.41 grams
Diameter: 16mm
Thickness: 0.8mm

This piece is a rather small one. I actually paid £3.20 for 3, 3-pence coins of differing ages. Which does seem a bit expensive, but I didn't own any so I chucked them into the buying pile.
Considering a quick browse through good ol eBay has them selling around the £1.80 mark plus, this has actually turned out to be a fairly good buy.
A terrible buy for the amount of silver within, but still a good buy considering there is an active market for these coins.
If the time comes that I need to sell some bits, having a healthy buying market really does help.

Next up is another 3 Pence piece, this time a 1919 dated one. Again it is in wonderful condition, a bit grubby, but I'm sure my polisher will be able to sort that out fairly easily.

The obverse of the coin: The uncrowned King George V
The reverse of the coin: A crowned denomination dividing the date within an oak wreath
Year: 1919
Value: 3 Pence
Currency: Pound Sterling
Silver: .925
Weight: 1.41 grams
Diameter: 16mm
Thickness: 0.8mm

The same composition as the 1918 piece above, but not as good a buying market for this one it seems.
Still though, they are selling at around the £1.60 region on eBay, so it's still worked out really well for what I paid.

The Precious Metal Stacking Journey

Time to document the Journey that I started in March 2024. Precious metals is the goal at the end of the day. I Planned to start with silver, and if I do well move into gold.
