"The lesson is that a new platform is a land grab. If you want lots of followers on it, you have to join before its clear that the platform will succeed (Kawasaki, 2015, p.233). As I read about this quote for one of my business courses, I instantly thought of the changing social media landscape.

We are in the early stages of a new paradigm. More and more users are switching away from legacy platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram and embracing new platforms such as Uptrennd, Minds, D.tube, Publish0x, and many more that reward users for their attention instead of seeing users as a source of advertising revenue. Regardless of which platform we use, I think that it is important to build our online presence and develop a reputation for producing good content. In the coming years, I predict that many of the social media sites that are currently termed "alt-tech" will see increased adoption and become mainstream names.

Sometimes, it can be disappointing to spend a few hours writing a post or creating a video that only gets a few views, but I encourage all of you to keep working and producing great content. Just by being on this platform, you are already a few steps ahead of most people. We are the early adopters, and our audience will continue to grow as more people embrace platforms that respect and reward users. Keep working on your content. Keep making those videos and writing those blog posts. There is no guarantee of success, but being an early adopter and establishing a strong reputation is a great first step.
