Micronutrients and malnutrition - the chemistry of minerals

By Heruvim78 | The longevity gene | 3 Nov 2020

Dietary minerals are inorganic molecules that are essential for the human body. They are also called dietary elements.

Out of 118 chemical elements on the periodic table, 21 are essential components of our diet. Basically life is possible because of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, these four elements being the bricks of the organic life. The remaining 17 chemical elements are known as the dietary minerals. Depending on the quan tity needed, there is a further classification into major elements (more than 5 grams present in the human body) and trace elements (less than 5 grams present in the human body).

The major elements are calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine and magnesium. The trace elements are iron, zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum, fluoride, cobalt and iodine. There is not yet determined if boron and silicium are dietary elements or not. The remaining 100 chemical elements range from totally harmless (helium) to very toxic (polonium, plutonium). The dietary elements can be also toxic when they are taken in excess

I need to run to work now, but i will write more tomorrow about the mineral bioavailability and food content of the minerals.

Yours truly,

George

And when i say longevity i mean a bigger health span, as opposed to the well known life span. It is not enough to live longer, if you are not healthy, so do not forget what our immortal James Dean said: 'It is important to die young, but as late as possible!'. I will explore many unorthodox ways, ranging from gut microbiota manipulation to ancient Ayurveda ritual, trying to combine them in an ample resource, from which you can get and apply whatever is better for you at the present moment.
