Coronavirus self-isolation - Day 50 and other random thoughts

I start with Coronavirus stats:

As for today, we have 4,706,986 cases globally, with 2,114,876 closed cases (out of which 311,916 (15%) deaths). The mortality percentage is at 15% (22% mortality 4 weeks ago). Another 2% down, we are recovering slowly. Keep in mind that 1% of 2.5 millions is 25.000 less deaths, so this is huge. The trend is descendent, so it is getting better globally, and even UK situation is improving, we got 240,161 cases and 34,466 deaths now. The increase in deaths number is due to the numbers from outside the hospital, especially in care homes, being added to the total number. We were told that in UK the peak was reached, i estimated that this happened 14 days ago. So now we need to wait probably another month so see what happens next. And we are on the 2nd place on deaths after US. There are 548 confirmed cases in my town, out of a local population of 171,623.

All this made me thinking about how the world will change after all this circus will finish. I think the flight companies will be heavily affected, and most probably in the years to come new airplanes will be built, with some different chair arrangements. Train will go back to the compartmented carriages, most likely, and i do not know what to say about cruises. Personally, i do not see myself going on a cruise in the near future. Then, i bet that the work from home will increase dramatically, especially as every good CEO could see that they had less expenses and more productivity in some of the industry branches, so you would be just mad to not continue like this if you can make more money with less expenses. Bus drivers will have a separate cabin, and in the army, big ships and even other mechanical machines will function with less staff (they just found out how they can do it in the past few months, and they will do it in the future, because the Army will check and apply this idea).

The main problem to solve for the future crisis to come is the asymptomatic carrier who is infected with the virus and spread it (Thyphoid Mary as they call it - now this is a story you may want to read). We could solve many of the issues we had in the past few months just finding ways to sort this out early. This way doesn't matter how many times a virus mutate, if we can identify it faster. This is one direction to follow and each pharma company that can provide solutions to this problem will become very rich, very quickly.
