The play-to-earn, referral and faucet myth

Hey guys, in today’s post I’m gonna share my thoughts about the eye-catching, click-baiting, greed-stimulating possibilities of earning FREE crypto. Well, not really free, you gotta some stuff to get it. Or pay some coin first. Or deposit. Well, in most cases.

So, let’s start the breakdown:

Exhibit A: crypto games

I’ve tried out a few and I am probably gonna try out some more, although my experience wasn’t so great.

Splinterlands - you deploy your deck of cards vs another player. Browser game stuff. Looks sucky. You realise pretty fast that in order to really do something in there, you need to pay 10 dollaz, to acquire some book or whatever it’s called, that holds your cards, plus you get the chance to get higher rarity cards. Sucks.

Alien worlds - again, browser stuff, didn’t even load on mobile for me. Tried it, looks really meh, but you can mine some TLM tokens.

Sorare - fantasy football leagues (muricans know it as soccer). Testing it out right now, seems that you can’t do shit without bidding on the first ‘rare’ cards (about 10-15 euros). For the rest, it’s not very time consuming and it looks good.

Crazy defense heroes and Crazy Kings - tower defense games, by Animoca Brands. They look good, they have the app version and Animoca says that once you get 25k xp per month, you get a share of a 300k TWR token pool. So they say, as they keep telling people it’s gonna happen ‘soon’. On the other hand, they’ve just announced a chest sale (nft related), for the 12th of may. Notice the difference: sale=12th of May, while TWR distribution according to in game performance = soon. Well, it is Animoca and TWR just got listed on KuCoin, so I’m still giving them credit and playing (I like tower def games anyway).

Moving on, Exhibit B: faucets

Gonna be really quick with this one. If you got time, lots of time to waste doing offer walls and watching ads, go for it. Also, if you wanna get redirected to all sorts of shady sites, go for it (they’ve got trackers and loggers and whatnot). Also, if you want to have your data sold all over the place, go for it. Imo, the returns are crappy, unless you invest quite some time. Then the returns are still kinda crappy, but not so much. Lol.

And the last part, Exhibit C: referrals

Well, there’s a ton of apps and platforms that offer rewards for being referred to people. Most of them require extra steps, like the people that create accounts via your referral link, have to deposit or trade a certain amount of money, that may be locked for some time. These are mostly the exchanges or wallets: Celsius, BlockFi, Crypto.com, ByBit etc. There are others that you can’t freaking understand (or at least I couldn’t), like the Hive ecosystem with it’s four types of tokens and powers and whatnot. What happened to KISS, keep it simple, stupid.
To keep it short and not go through a huge list, I’m just gonna say what worked:

Coinbase - earn forty bucks, do whatever you want with it, grats.

Publish0x - get informed, get paid (even more so for writing pieces, like yours truly is trying to do right bow).

Binance - get dough from your buddies investing activities

Torum - still trying it out, gotta acquire 500 XTM to unlock my wallet.

SwissBorg Community - referrals help you get the badges needed to enter the hall of fame and get 250 bucks in CHSB token. Still haven’t gotten there, but I’m close. Kinda.

Brave Browser - farm that BAT by surfing the net. Much hard.

Presearch search engine - query, earn PRE tokens. Get to 1000 tokens, withdraw. It’ll take some time. It’s legit and it’s intentions are to screw over Google. I wish them luck.

Decrypt - get informed, earn Decrypt tokens, use them to buy whatever they’re dropping in their store. Nft’s up til now, they sell out really fast.

Well, that’s kinda it, lemme know if you guys found out some other legit opportunities to get filthy rich by earning 2 cents a day!
