Perfection

Perfection

Over the following weeks I gained a much better understanding of the interaction between Allegra and her equipment.

Not only could she heal wounds and improve biological systems like accelerating the growth of muscle mass in animals but she could promote these changes in humans as well.

Throughout the demonstrations I noticed that the energy in her mind was significantly more free than other Guardians. Shifting between her myriad of emotional attachments to her subjects from fear when a subject was near death to pride when she was able to improve a biological function beyond the limits of what the subject should have been capable of.  When her energy was particularly concentrated the feats that she was able to perform were nothing short of miraculous.

I found myself drawn to her, my cool exterior began to soften and warm the more time I spent with her, and I found myself working harder to improve the capabilities of her visor than I had worked on other projects.

We also talked extensively about my experiments with my own augmentations. She was incredibly attentive and when I would explain the results of my energy manipulation she had so many questions, her placement within the ranks of the Citadel Scholars was very appropriate indeed.

Finally after three weeks of tweaking and modifying the Ethereal visor we reached a breakthrough. I produced the visor for the daily tests after having worked on it throughout the night, the moment she placed the visor over her eyes she gasped. There was a flush of excitement in her cheeks and she whirled about looking for something.

Her gaze locked on me and she approached with a playful smile on her lips. I had been aware of her feminine figure throughout our interactions but the way her hips were swaying as she approached was tantalizing. The way her robes seemed to cling to each and every curve on her perfect body and fall away a moment later. Teasing at the potential of what was underneath.

I tried to steady my mind and suppress the flush that was rising in my own face. I had found myself needing to steady myself more frequently the more time we had spent together. She was beautiful and I couldn’t help but think that the modifications I had made to allow her to better identify natural energy flows allowed her to see that was the way I perceived her.

It wasn’t explicitly forbidden for Guardians to have relations with one another, however there was an unspoken taboo surrounding the concept of physicality between the priests and priestesses residing within the walls of the Citadel.

When she reached the spot where I was standing she leaned in and whispered that the modifications I had made were exactly perfect. I could feel the warmth of her breath against my cheek, somehow the melody of her voice seemed amplified and directed, like she and I were the only people in the entire Citadel.

This sudden shift in her attitude and demeanour took me by surprise and when she continued walking past me, towards the Citadel entrance it took me a moment to process what she had said.

Finally recapturing my senses I followed her and we made our way towards the city for the daily round of tests. Today seemed somehow different than the others however and the thoughts swirling around in my mind refused to be suppressed so easily.
