Okay... now it is time!

Eeeep... Easter crept up a bit on us this year! In the Netherlands, it would be likely that I would be in the midst of a huge Passion season of performing the Bach Passions everywhere... either in Netherlands or on tour. So, that sort of thing tends to give you a bit of a reminder that the season is on... however, in Australia, the crazy Passion season isn't so much of a thing, and so... no reminder!

... except for the fact that all the supermarkets have been stocking Easter chocolates and hot cross buns and all of that crap since the start of the year! Seriously, who is stocking up that long in advance?... and if you want chocolate, get better chocolate... or cheaper chocolate! It really baffles me, as does much that goes on in the marketing world... but I guess it must work or sell, otherwise the shops wouldn't do it right?

Anyway... seeing the bunnies and eggs on every single shop... and declining every child's request for a chocolate bunny/egg (yes, we are that sort of mean parent...) means that we have gotten a bit desensitised to the sight of them... and so, had almost forgotten that THIS WEEKEND was THE weekend!

So, a quick trip to the mall (oh my gosh, I am really not fond of these consumer meccas...) in between a trip to the hardware store (for house stuff...) and the office supply store (for a printer...). And that was the haul that was picked up!

Honestly, I don't really know why we bother though... I know what will happen. We will have a crazy fun hide and seek Egg hunt (that is going to be crazy fun in the bigger garden of the new place!).... and then the girls will open and eat one of the bigger ones... and the rest, they will stash away and slowly eat all the way through to next Easter! In fact, when we moved to Australia... it was a great opportunity to get rid of some 2 year old chocolate...

We are going to have to plan out the hunt a little better though... the garden is quite a lot bigger in comparison to our little cute place in the Netherlands... which means that if we aren't careful, there will be a few lost eggs... plus, it is warmer in Australia during this time than it is in Europe, maybe we have to do it much earlier in the morning so that the eggs don't all melt... at least the garden is well shaded by all these trees!

I wonder if it will be the last year of the little one believing in the Easter Bunny though... she has seen so many of these rabbits at the supermarket that it will start to become too much of a cognitive dissonance for her to keep thinking that the Easter Bunny is bringing them all!

As always... I picked up something nice for my wife as well. A higher quality chocolate egg... she always says that I shouldn't... but I do it anyway. Plus, if she doesn't eat it... I will!
