When it comes to being wealthy with crypto, it was always the same direction.
Which coin?
Which token?
Which blockchain?
What project could do 100 times the same?
I have had the same question that passed through my mind.
However, the more I observe this sector change, the more I question whether we're asking the right question.
Perhaps the future of cryptocurrency riches won't be the next coin that explodes.
Perhaps it will stem from owning those things that everyone else would be buying later.
And that's where things get interesting.
The internet created millionaires in unexpected ways
Most people were searching for the next big website when the Internet went mainstream.
However, not all of the biggest fortunes were made through the most popular website.
They are created by constructing the internet infrastructure.
Search.
Cloud computing.
Payments.
Advertising.
Data.
Those who engineered the roadways, frequently enjoyed the driving of other traffic out of their way.
That's the trajectory that crypto might take as well.
There is a lot of time spent watching token prices go up and down.
But there's more underneath the hype.
The financial system is slowly moving towards digitalization.
Assets are getting programmable.
Identity is going mobile.
AI agents are starting to communicate with applications and financial systems.
And the more blockchains are being used as settlement layers.
That's a different question than just asking:
Which of the coins will pump next?
The AI agent problem nobody talks about
Envision an AI agent that can respond to queries and much more.
It can:
Determine the cheapest price on a certain item.
Pay for a service.
Subscribe to software.
Get an additional AI agent.
Transfer funds between services.
Complete a task while you're sleeping.
Now ask yourself:
How does that AI identify itself?
How does it pay?
What is the funding model for it?
What are its relationships with the financial systems?
How can we be certain that the deal was completed?
These don't always need to be "crypto problems.
These are challenges that may become more prominent as AI becomes more self-reliant.
This is where I feel the discussion over crypto gets interesting.
The future might not be a time of human crypto purchases.
It could be something related to the machines and financial networks.
It's a whole new ball game.
Your crypto wallet could become something much bigger
In modern times, most people imagine a wallet as being where they keep their cryptocurrencies.
But, what if the wallet of the future turns into a digital economic identity?
Let's say you have one online identity with the ability to contain:
Money
Digital assets
Credentials
Memberships
Reputation
Ownership records
Access rights
Now, your wallet is more than just a place for coins.
It transforms into a means of communication with the digital economy.
That's why I believe the best crypto opportunities will be in places that are not necessarily exciting today.
Identity.
Infrastructure.
Payments.
Security.
Data ownership.
Interoperability.
Not all of these are necessarily the ones that get the most attention on social media.
However, if they persist they may prove to be very significant.
The biggest mistake beginners make
One of the first things people do when they get into crypto is to examine the charts.
Green candle.
Red candle.
Support.
Resistance.
Volume.
Market cap.
Then they attempt to foretell what is to come next.
There's nothing wrong with learning technical analysis.
But I believe there's another question that's more interesting and more valuable, though, which is:
What is the goal of this technology?
Because if you understand the problem, you can start understanding the potential market.
Instead of asking:
"Can this token go 10x?"
Ask:
"If this technology succeeds, what will millions of people need?"
That shift in thinking changes everything.
A successful technology creates secondary markets.
The smartphone didn't just create smartphone companies.
It created app stores, mobile advertising, ride-sharing, food delivery, mobile payments and countless businesses that didn't exist before.
Crypto and AI could do something similar.
The biggest opportunity might not be the technology everyone is currently talking about.
It could be the infrastructure that quietly supports it.
The "boring" crypto projects might become the interesting ones
The following uncomfortable thought.
The next major crypto news item could be mundane.
It could be anything but a meme coin.
It may not have a celebrity endorsement.
It could be a non-trending topic on X.
It could be a project that is very well done, solving a tedious problem.
The plumbing of the financial system is seldom exciting.
But there is a need for plumbing everywhere.
So I'm getting more interested in asking:
Who is constructing roads?
Who is making it easier to move the digital assets?
Who is solving identity?
Which party is being made the cheaper?
Who is bringing together old and new finance on blockchain networks?
Who is developing systems which AI agents can use?
The questions could be more interesting to us than looking for the next 100x token.
The next bull market may look completely different
Humans had a big influence on the previous cycles of Crypto.
Humans bought Bitcoin.
Humans traded tokens.
Humans used exchanges.
Humans moved money.
However, the next big cycle might be more and more shaped by something else:
Software.
AI agents might be able to use financial infrastructure.
They don't sleep.
They don't have emotions.
They don't fall for the fear of missing out (FOMO).
And, if the technology advances sufficiently, they could be able to interact with financial systems on a continuous basis.
Not all AI projects will be successful, though.
But it does not imply that all AI-related crypto projects will be successful too.
However, it does indicate that the ties between AI, finance and blockchain are about to be more significant.
That's a trend to watch,
I'm changing the way I look at crypto
Back in the day I used to ponder crypto and wonder:
What is the best thing to purchase?
Now I'm more interested in asking:
What if crypto really takes off, what will the world look like?
Such a difficult one to answer.
But I feel it's a much more interesting one, too.
The largest technology opportunities are often right under your nose.
Not on the front page of the news.
Not in the most viral tweets!
Not the funniest meme in the token!
But in the infrastructure that's being constructed below the surface of all things.
Perhaps the next cryptocurrency millionaire will not be the one who foretold the ideal cryptocoin.
Perhaps, it's the person who saw a need that had yet to be met.
Perhaps that's the lesson.
Don't just look for the next 100x asset.
Find the next 100x need.
When everyone else realizes they need something...
The folks who constructed it tend to be already present.
What do you think?
Do you believe that if AI agents are economically self-sustaining they will require crypto and blockchain infrastructure or will financial systems just evolve to accommodate them?
I really like to hear your feedback!
