Lime can be a much better ebike company than it is currently by making just a few changes. The same goes for Bird and any other venture-backed ebike company. I think that the problem is that they try to force themselves into a system rather v than leveraging current business systems that exist in order to more organically boost their company's growth.
For example, a bunch of these companies initial strategies for growth was littering city streets with their ebike products. Imagine someone coming into your front yard and throwing (what you see as) trash all over the yard without explaining their motives or telling you ahead of time. If an individual or even a group of individuals tried to fi what the ebike companies did, they'd most likely lose their jobs because a good bit of the companies had bad run in with city or local government officials .
Now, the question is. How might one have handled this ? Or how might one have moved so silently in such a way that most people might not even have realized the ebikes were a rectal company like Avis, Budget (but specifically focused on bikes ). Anyone who want their customer might have just fissure the bikes to be Luke personally owned property. I WOULD even have made the front page of their website to seem like they were selling ebikes but only have the option to rent on the payment page so only rental customers who really know what's going on would be aware
At such point, no real suspicion would have been raised.
If their strategy was more well thought out, they would have incentivized the total removal of ebikes from the streets every night so that they would not raise the attention of "people who they didn't want paying attention" to them. There was once a saying by a famous philosopher, and it goes like this: real Gs move in silence like lasagna. And I couldn't agree more.
So for every rental customer. I would even give them free rides to "drop zones" like neighborhoods, gas stations and convenient stores spread all across the city . This is where I'd store all of v the bikes at night vsi the streets would be clear. And the next day, anyone who wanted to rent a bike could just pick them up from the drop zones and ride through their cities.
