If I was an immigrant coming to work in North America today, I would want to be able to hustle officially and "unofficially " ..... without doing anything illegal. I would first get off the plane and ask the people working at the airport where the nearest KFC, Popeyes or Churchs chicken was located. I would do this and avoid other fast food places because most the chicken restaurants have to cook their chicken fresh and throw a lot of it out at the end of the day. And this goes beyond chicken. A lot of times, thry have to throw out biscuits,corn, rice, gravy , potatoes and the like. It's actually quite insane the amount of food they would have to throw away. Now, I'm not saying that somehow all of the extra food doesn't get thrown away. But I've heard that somehow (without stealing or doing anything illegal ), employees ending getting a "food bonus" emat the end of everyday so they almost never go home empty handed. For this reason, I would highly recommend that you work for one of the chicken restaurants. This will allow you to save the money that you would have had to spend on food.
Also, I would also highly recommend buying all of your non-dairy and non-meat items from Dollar Tree. There are other Dollar stores in NorthbAmerica but I find this to be the cheapest one that truly sells things for as close to a dollar as possible. In fact, I believe that you can actually get their items delivered to your house. And honestly, if you're a real hustler, you can also re-sell their items back to other people across the country on websites like ebay and Amazon.
And if you need somewhere to stay and have no money yet, find a park and sleep just between it and a small forest. If you are living somewhat adventurously, you can attempt to stay at several houses that have not been sold yet, which you can find on Zillow, Redfin or another real estate broker website. This reminds me. There are several "house sitting" websites that you can find through Google that allows you to stay rent free at a property because you are basically providing security for that property while their owners are away. But I would make sure that you tell any close friends and family where you are staying because you never really know what type of property owner someone is. Or more specifically, what type of person that they are.
Using these last alternative methods for finding temporary shelter, should give you a long enough time to save up money from your chicken restaurants job and get off of the streets. I would honestly invest in leasing a car first before renting an apartment. I would then buy a storage space band get a gym pass to so would have places to store my things outside of my car as well as wash myself.
Of course, you should also have a pre-paid cell phone plan that you can get from Walmart or Kroger that sometimes comes with a free cell phone. It shouldn't cost more than $70 USD . Thus will allow you to do gig work. But don't use your main car. Rent a Lime scooter long-term or rent a car weekly from Uber or Lyft and drive around people in their customer network. I think that you should be able to deliver doordash work with only a scooter.
Honestly, if you invest enough money as an Uber driver, you should be able to make enough money a week to just do that for like 8 hours a day. Then, come home and resell Dollar Tree items and other grocery items via Ebay, Facebook Marketplace and the like.
