Scientifically speaking, a planet cannot be travelling from point A to another in a stray-random manner, independent with any external forces, as every body (aside from cosmic dust, elements, sub atomic particles etc) in the cosmic universe has gravitational pull.
Gravitational pull of larger planets are stronger than that of planet x if it will enter our solar system, hence; greater probability is, it will collide or be vacuumed by those bigger bodies first.
Moreover, since Sun's gravitational pull is the strongest amongst planetary bodies within the solar system, it will just create a gravitational connection within that planet x, hence; planet x will revolve around the sun.
