Bitcoin touches $10,000 as halving expected Monday, May 11th
Bitcoin passed $10K for the first time since February as hype builds for the halving, an event that happens every four years where the inflation rate of Bitcoin cuts in half. The new Bitcoin inflation rate will be around 2%, matching the target inflation rate that central banks set from around the world.
Bitcoin miners process 16 blocks in one hour in a very unusual occurrence
Bitcoin mining difficulty is supposed to keep blocks mined at a normal rate of 6 blocks per hour. On May 2nd, in a highly unusual event, Bitcoin miners processed a total of 16 blocks in a one-hour time slot. Mining difficulty soon adjusted to return to the normal amount.
Nasdaq partners with R3 Corda to offer private blockchain solutions for enterprises
Nasdaq has recently partnered with R3 Corda, a private distributed ledger, to help transition financial assets to the blockchain space. R3 Corda is a competitor to mainstream cryptocurrencies that doesn’t require a cryptocurrency or nodes, as all transaction processing is centralized.
