''Normal Mind'' Illusion ~ Part III

By Mind Pilgrimage | Mind Pilgrimage | 4 Sep 2025

Most of us go through life assuming there is nothing wrong with the way the mind works.

We believe thoughts are private, neutral, and that the inner voice is somehow “us.” As long as we perform, produce, and manage to get by, we convince ourselves everything is fine. But something inside keeps whispering that it is not fine at all.

There comes a point when the tension can no longer be ignored. The inner dialogue turns exhausting, actions and desires contradict each other, comfort feels like sedation, and rest feels like avoidance. Even the smallest decisions begin to feel heavy.

Many of us live like this for decades and call it normal. Yet deep down, we know this cannot be all there is. The pressure to perform, to impress, to fit in, to belong, wears us down. We chase goals we do not believe in, build identities we secretly resent, and fill our time with distractions just to escape ourselves. Even self-care often becomes another performance. From the outside, everything appears fine. That is the trap.

Eventually, a shift occurs. Not necessarily a dramatic collapse, but a quiet realization, born of stillness or accumulated doubt, that the mind no longer feels like home. It is full of contradictions, fears, and borrowed scripts.

Family, trauma, culture, media, religion, all of them speak through the same inner voice, which we mistake for our own.

This awakening does not require mystical experiences or external triggers. It can happen in silence, in boredom, in a moment where nothing is demanded. No attention, no explanation, no identity. Just presence. And in that presence something becomes undeniable: the real problem is not the world, but the structure of the mind itself. The way it clings, divides, narrates, and refuses to be still. Above all, the way it never learned to fall silent.

A new relationship to thought, where not every impulse is trusted, not every emotion is obeyed, not every opinion is believed. A shift from being trapped inside the noise to simply becoming aware of it.

From that awareness, freedom begins. Not as a perfect state of bliss, but as the refusal to be ruled by every passing thought.

Desires lose their authority. Beliefs become optional. Identity loosens its grip.

This is not an escape from life, but the first real meeting with life as it is, without filters or programs. Nothing needs to change on the outside, yet everything does.

And that quiet shift, without drama or performance, marks the beginning of something rare: a mind that is finally ours.

To be continued…
Until then, keep contemplating on this.
