Today I have seen a lot of warnings being posted about staying away from dApps to keep your wallets away from exploits. This is being shared both on X by different known users and coders within the cryptosphere. At first it was not explained what the problem is and a lot of people became skeptical about if there is any truth in this claim. It is still not fully confirmed and always do research before trusting something. Some people have been pointing out that staying away from dApps for a bit might not really hurt anyone. Are they correct about this in your opinion?
After a little bit of time we could see posts saying that the issue was discovered in ledger library that had been compromised and had a drainer placed in it. This could be a real danger for people losing their assets when they connect with dApps, making their hardware wallet open to being emptied by these scammers. See the tweet above for an example.
This means that there is a potential threat to the funds that is held in Ledger if the owners engage with dApps with this compromised library.
Users are therefor advise to avoid dApps before it is confirmed that this is solved. Otherwise the drainer script could be activated and resulting in funds lost. Owners should stay vigilant and monitor official Ledger channels for more info about this. An update could resolve this, but be careful since scammers will try and use this is an opportunity. Users could also consider changing passwords and keep their eyes on any unauthorized transaction happening.
While writing this Ledger posted on their official X account about this issue:
