The slap heard around the world

The Slap Heard Around The World!

Maybe I should reword the title to ' The Slap Seen Around The World' but what transpired during the live Oscars event last Sunday, a show I've watched in its entirety only once in the last 24 years back in 2010, was a shocker to just about everyone who's seen the footage. Co-host actor / comedian Chris Rock cracked a silly and in my opinion, harmless joke aimed at Jada Pinkett Smith. Her husband Will Smith, arguably one of the most famous actors of our time, suddenly got up, walked on stage and slapped Rock in the face hard, calmly walked back to his seat and cursed at Rock to keep his wife's name out of his mouth, repeating it a second time and much louder, for the whole audience and indeed the entire world to see and hear.

He then went on to win the Oscar for best male performance, gave a horrible speech about protecting people and when he was done, the audience then got up and gave this narcissist a standing ovation. Afterwards, he was seen having a blast at an after show party, not thinking twice about the blowback he would immediately face. Since then, he's offered a lame apology on Telegram.

I for one can tell you this. I will never watch anything by Will Smith or his arrogant wife or his kids ever again. These actors who think they are so special are getting a taste of their own medicine. Other famous actors have come forward to denounce his actions, even going so far as to suggest Will Smith should be sued for hundred of millions of dollars. That is something I agree with.

To go smack someone in the face who is several inches shorter than you, while that person's hands are behind their back, live on television sums up just exactly what Will Smith is, an unhinged and very dangerous man. His arrogant wife is no better.

So she lost her hair because of some NON-life threatening disease. In an age where so many adults, men and women alike, are shaving themselves smooth to look ten years old again, she could have been the envy of the world. Honestly, she looks very nice with her shaved head. Clearly though, the way she rolled her eyes, it was the spark that sent her husband on a massive and steep, downward trajectory.

If you sit in the front row at the Oscars, you should expect to get roasted. Roasted yes but all in good fun. Does anyone besides me remember the Dean Martin Roast shows that invited a particular guest on to be purposely roasted by a dozen other celebrities? Chris Rock's very harmless joke about Jada appearing in G.I. Jane II was nothing to get all fired up about but what followed showed for the whole world the true colors that belong to Will and Jada Smith.

The audacity of the crowd to give this asshole a standing ovation literally minutes after he physically assaulted a fellow actor shows what Hollywood really is and also what the Oscars show really is, a show filled with actors and directors who think the world revolves around them and they can do whatever they want with impunity.

Or so they thought....

Will Smith assaults Chris Rock @ Oscars

The internet is now abuzz with the infamous clip being shown and re-shown over again to the tune of hundreds of millions of views around the world. Everyone, from normal everyday people to sports stars, fellow actors, politicians, and network news have said their piece on the issue and all are in agreement that Will Smith should have been arrested. At the very least, he should have been immediately escorted out of the building. It also showed that security was lacking at this event filled with so many well known people. No one came to Chris Rock's aid following the incident but Will Smith got a standing ovation.

Does this mark the end of Hollywood and the Hollywood star? At first, everyone thought it was part of an elaborate act, a distraction maybe? By now though, it's clear it was all real. Because of their Hollywood status, many have gotten away with some very horrible deeds while finally, others have paid the price. Think Harvey Weinstein who forced women to sleep with him in exchange for a movie role.. Think Bill Cosby drugging young girls / women. Think Alec Baldwin who shot someone dead. Was it an accident? Rumors of paedophelia in Hollywood too have been spreading for years. Think Corey Feldman and his good friend Corey Haim who took his own life.

Maybe it's time we stop worshiping these ACTORS as all knowing, prescient beings who are incapable of anything wrong. The Oscars too is just a show about actors congratulating themselves. I hadn't even heard of the movie, 'King Richard' beforehand for which Will Smith won an oscar. I can also tell you that I will NEVER watch it. I won't waste my time over it. It's a movie about millionaire tennis star sisters Selena and Serena Williams and their father. Who gives a shit? What that movie is really about is them making more money off their fame. That's what that is all about. It's all about them getting richer. Seriously, who gives a shit about these rich tennis stars' private lives?

Unfortunately for Will and Jada Smith, no one gives a shit about them going forward. In my honest opinion, that slap was a career killer for both of them and likely, their kids too. They may as well retire now and move to an isolated island. At the least, they will be cursed everywhere they go. That slap will haunt them for the rest of their lives!

Dana Carvey and David Spade have released a video where they confide that they, along with their good friend Chris Rock were victims of bullying as children and how shocked they were at what transpired and that Chris is one of the nicest guys they've ever known. Will Smith is definitely the bully and Chris Rock is the victim.

Do I think Rock should sue? Hell yes, I do. That clip will never go away. As the days turn into weeks, months and years, I am certain that clip will garner billions of views worldwide. Chris Rock will definitely survive this. A testament to that is the standing ovation he himself received when he walked on stage on Wednesday for his live comedy act in Boston, his first appearance since Sunday's fiasco. The ovation went on for a few minutes before he finally cracked a joke, 'So how was your weekend?'.

For the Smith family on the other hand, I think they are finished. We'll know when Will Smith's next movie comes out and it bombs. We'll know when his movie after that comes out and it too bombs. We'll know when his next movie after that comes out and it too bombs. The people have had enough. After everything we've been through these last 2 years, just what we don't need is more violence and arrogance from Will and Jada Smith.

Are you in the mood to sit through anything that contains any member of the Will / Jada Smith family going forward? I'm not.

Will Smith should have received the Oscar for best performance as ASSHOLE OF THE CENTURY! There's no excuse for his behavior and a lame apology on Telegram doesn't cut it. This was an assault and he should be booked even if Chris Rock refuses to press charges.
