It was January 10 1969, The get back sessions were underway, the Beatles were being filmed as a part of this new project, which would potentially be shaped into a movie later. Things were already looking shaky for the fab four. There were arguments, creative differences, egos coming in the way of music.

During one of these sessions while rehearsing for get back Paul had an argument with George about his playing, Paul criticized George for "vamping" on the songs. Paul was very particular about what he wanted on his song, and he wanted it exactly the way he'd imagine, this caused him to direct the other members into playing exactly the way he expected, taking away the creative freedom of the others, this is exactly what happened with George, he felt he couldn't play freely and was unable to find happiness in the band anymore, at some point in the argument, George tells Paul that he would play whatever he wanted him to play, or not play at all if he didn't want him to. Shortly after this, George would get up, and announce, "I'll be leaving the band now", to which John responds, "When?", and George says "Now".

This goes to show how high the tensions between them was during the get back sessions and it shows in the get back documentary. George would eventually rejoin them 5 days later during a meeting they had to discuss the future of the band, George presented a few terms for returning to the group including the idea of doing a live show being dropped and moving from twickenham film studio to Saville row studios.
