Disclaimer: the following post was first published on my own personal blog on July 8th, 2017. My situation has changed a lot ever since and I no longer live in a van. As my goal here is to share my overall experience as a former van dweller, I thought it would be a great opportunity to re-post my very first writtings on the subject. Sit down and enjoy!

I’m sure there’s a reason your search engine brought you here, maybe it’s because you’re currently contemplating living in a van. Just like I was 9 months ago.
Perhaps you’re fed up with your current routine and want to quit your job to go on some epic adventures on 4 wheels around the country! Or you might be interested in the minimalist movement and you’re intrigued by people who experience this uncommon lifestyle. If so, I hope my blog will be a valuable resource, or at least provide you with some entertaining reading material.
A little bit about me…
My name is Jean Philippe but most people call me JP. It’s short and easy to pronounce. Because let’s face it, Aussies are notorious for their laziness and their short cuts. So it has always been a lot easier to just stick with JP.
Six years ago, love brought me to Australia. Six years later, I’m still here but love ran away. Despite this I chose to stay here and embrace this awesome country. The Canadian winter has always triggered my anxiety so I guess I’m fine here.
Over a year ago, when love ran away, I decided that I wanted to experience something different or let’s say something meaningful. I became a vanlifester! And I’m pretty proud to suggest that I made up word.
I have never been much of a writer, but the idea of creating this blog was up in the air for a while. Some of my colleagues and friends have told me that my current lifestyle is quite inspirational and uncommon and that I should share it with the world, so here I am!
What is this blog about?
I have spent some time looking online for “living in a van” kind of stuff. There is lots of cool blogs on the internet about the subject however they all seem to have one thing in common: they all talk about the “how to”. I believe the “why to” is just as important, if not more important. What are the triggers that motivate one from turning his or her back to the socially accepted “normal” way of living. That being said, you probably guessed it, this blog will talk about
#vanlife
#minimalism
#intentional living
#tiny house
#travelling down under
#gypsielife
#financial freedom
And heaps more!
I like to take photos so this will also be part of the package deal.
I also want to use this platform as a way to help others who, just like me, suffer from anxiety and feel trapped in their daily routine. By letting go of things and by embracing intentional living, I can now say that I’m happier and a lot more focused than ever before. If nomadism and minimalism has helped me, perhaps it can help you too. By no means am I here to preach a lifestyle but rather to share some of the ingredients that are working well for me. Is my life perfect? Absolutely not! But it is a lot better!
My name is JP and I live in a van.
