Right now in the world of cryptocurrency many of the games and competitions revolve around gambling, either directly or as some other sort of game that may have a different aesthetic or theme but is still really just a gambling game. Bet or use or apply a certain amout of some currency and if you’re successful, win a certain amount of currency back.
Other games aren’t so much about winning crpyto directly, but they’re games where you still have to spend crypto to play them and then through the course of play, either by playing the game directly or by selling the things you gain in-game, you can earn more crypto.
One area I haven’t heard much talk about yet is crypto competitions. I know some blockhain-based social media websites occasionally have little art or photo competitions run by individuals, but I’m thinking about something on more of a grand scale. Something similar to writing competitions, where there’s an organized group running the competition along with a group of judges, and people can pay an entry fee in order to submit their work. The top winners would then win various cryptocurrency prizes. The organization could even create a website to publish the winners on, or perhaps publish a compilation of the top winners as e-books and print-on-demand books, or whatever would be appropriate for the type of competition being held.
Because the entire competition would be held on a blockchain, including collection and distribution of funds, the whole process would be transparent and fair. Not only would this be fun, but it could attract even more people to cryptocurrency as people came to participate in the various competitions. It could be a great way to introduce more people to cryptocurrency, and also a great way to help more artists and authors get published.
