It has been barely a week since the outer perimeter fencing has come down yet here we are again having to talk about another attack on the Capitol Complex. While 2020 was a crap show it seems 2021 is not going to be to much better for those of us who live in our nations Capitol. When I first heard the news I could not believe it. January 6th was supposed to be the exception not the foreshadowing of what was to come.

So what happened?

Yesterday around 1 pm local time an individual driving a car drove at and hit two Capitol Hill police officers or USCP officers. The individual who committed this heinous act then got out of his car with a knife and lunged at another officer before he was fired upon and killed. 

Sadly as of this post one officer has scrummed to his injuries and the other is in critical condition. The perpetrator of the crimes was also killed when he tried to continue his attack. To let you know how crazy it all was a helicopter landed on the Capitol which never happens and many people who have been here for a long time have never scene. 

Fallout

Because people always seem to do this everyone has been rushing to judgement again. Much like what happened very recently in Colorado the judgements are already showing to not be accurate. It is way to early for anyone to be issuing statements about what happened and the motives or reasons behind it.

The buggiest issue I have had is both sides trying to politicalize this situation. Not even 12 hours after this had occurred Rep. Ilan Omar posted by far the most politicalizing comment stating “the death toll would have been worse if the assailant  had been armed with an AR-15 instead of a knife.” This was so saddening to see as common courtesy would at least give the fallen her some time.

The individual that did commit the crime has had both family and friends say the last few years he became someone new. He became a huge follower of the Nation of Islam which was not previously know you be a big guiding force in his life. The biggest change was his strict following for know..... issue caused by Louis Farrakhan. The Southern Poverty erit Law Center has him as a know anti-semantic amoung many other issues he has caused.

I want the United States to not only heal but lead again and the more we let people like this terrorist divide us the less likely it is this healing will take place.
