This is from last Thursday and I guess I just forgot to hit post and lost it in my tabs. Anyway I wanted to share since it was a pretty wild thing that was rapidly sensationalized and made to be a much bigger thing than it turned out to be.  

Yesterday a little bit before 5 pm when the House was scheduled to start voting on two bills a House Alert went out saying that the Rayburn Tunnel was closed to all traffic due to a "fire investigation." Since I am not anywhere near the building I didn't pay much attention to it but my oh my was it much more impactful than I thought.  

In the Rayburn Tunnel there is a trolly that takes Members and Staff from the Rayburn building to the Capitol.

Not to down or over play the fire that took place but two police officers had to be taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. While the tunnels have great airflow in them given the amount of smoke and that it happened in a tunnel thankfully only two people had to be taken to the hospital. From what read about they were released that night but the tunnel was closed for about a day.  

When they reopened it the following day only one trolly was operational. The one that had the electrical fire was obviously closed and it will be interesting to see what ends up coming out about this investigation.
